EMDR with Children and Adolescents – a development-oriented practice
Date: July, 24 (3 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.) – July, 25 (9 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.) 2026 (Berlin time)
Overview
The seminar on the book “EMDR Therapy for Children and Adolescents: A Development-Oriented Practice.”
The developmental focus emphasized in the title refers, on the one hand, to the application of EMDR in children from infancy to early adolescence—i.e., children and adolescents in development. On the other hand, it considers the child’s development within EMDR treatment: What skills were developed in the course of psychotherapy? What resources were strengthened? What stressful events were processed in such a way that a new orientation is now possible?
Seminar content
The seminar begins with an overview of treating children with post-traumatic stress symptoms using EMDR and offers a refresher on what has already been learned. The newly developed EMDR Phasometer (© Lempertz) with graphical representations supports orientation within the 8-phase EMDR standard protocol.
This is followed by practical exercises for activating “trauma material” and resource and stabilization exercises. Working in small groups provides an opportunity to try out these exercises for yourself or on behalf of your own cases.
In the large group, cases can also be presented and supervised in a development-oriented manner.
Prerequisites for participation: Successful completion of the EMDR introductory seminar (formerly Level 1) and Part I of the EMDR children’s curriculum (EMDR Europe accredited).
The 2-day seminar with a total of 8 teaching units will take place in person in Bonn:
Costs: 210,-€ (including handout, EMDR-Phasometer, snacks)
